We overestimate our own perspective.
The effect is strongest in adolescence. Its also found to be less strong in multi-lingual population.
Cause
There is a psychological need to need to have strong ego.
Consequences
Useful for remembering things - helps with recall of experiences, ideas, beliefs that matches our own. This makes our egocentric outlook stronger.
