The first step of your Personal Knowledge Management(PKM) journey is to setup your knowledge base. This is the one place that will have all the information you have captured and organized over time.
“Know thyself” has been a guiding principle in Greek philosophy - so much so that it has been inscribed upon the temple of Apollo as far back as 400 BC.
As I start my new ‘Know Thyself’ project, the first place I got to is Philosophy. Yes, it’s a crutch.
The psychology of self is much more straightforward than I expected. All I had to do was search for ‘Self-*’ - most things related to self were helpfully titled some variant of Self-Something. Starting with the Self-Concept.
When you learn about the psychology of self, one obvious place to search for is personality psychology. Branch of psychology that studies personality and its variations. These show how individuals differ from each other.
After taking a long break from working on belief systems(and writing a book in the meantime), I think it’s time to get back to belief system. The problem that got me stuck was how to define the term ‘Belief Systems’.
The main problem I’m currently working on is this: “How do I change my own beliefs?” Especially if I don’t think that the belief is true. If I think it’s true, I already believe it. But if I don’t think that belief is true, how can I still ‘believe’ it? How do I make it true in my own mind?
